Brand yourself. Create a range of motion graphics and (multi)media for your own personal brand. Present the media in a short animated billboard or ident.
Research was a large part of this project, where looking into other brands was key to making a successful brand for yourself. Naturally, I immediately took to brands that I myself am drawn to, although I consider myself someone who is not that influenced by branding and adverts. These adverts that I was inclined to include the highly entertaining Irn Bru adverts:
Snowman
Goths
I am also inclined towards adverts for games, in particular for the xbox 360 (my console of choice), such as:
Gears of War
Skyrim
For this project, I intended to come up with a brand for an independant retailer of wargaming miniatures, due to my high interest in Warhammer, a tabletop gaming system by the company games workshop. With this in mind, I took to researching other miniature companies and independant retailers, as well as forums in order to come up with a suitable name for my brand.
Out of the extensive list that I came up with, 3 names stood out most to me: Warfurnace, Harlequin's Outpost and Battle Crypt. So with these 3 names, I came up with concepts for their respective logos.
Warfurnace:
Harlequin's Outpost and Battle Crypt:
I decided on Warfurnace as my brand name, and thus began to develop the text that was to be adorning the logo. Due to my high interest in music, I looked to my favourite band's type-face to get inspiration.
With plenty of inspiration, I developed the text and came up with this final logo:
From here I made an animated ident using Photoshop and Flash:
Hi Callum,
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed with your work just now and am also gratified to see both colour, humour and improving quality. Never mind artists block, you have no time for that. Remember my friend there is inspiration all around, in everything which affects us physically, mentally and spiritually. From the mundane to the fantastic, from the tragic to the triumphant step back and see. I am so bad at this computery stuff not knowing a blog from a tweet and I don't give a sh*t to be honest but I am a fan and always interested. I am also impressed with Karen's work, love it too. Please tell her so. Take care young un!
Richard
